more raw material
I picked up this "little" beauty at Bill Valvanis' International Bonsai Arboretum last June. It's a san jose juniper. Probably one of the best pieces of raw material I've come across on the East Coast. The height I plan to use is 17 inches. You can see the thickness of the base. I spent many hours with wire brushes exposing the deadwood on this. I like the hand brushes as they keep the subtle shaping of the wood intact. In the coming spring, I'll start the process of changing foliage from the san jose to shimpaku.

Awesome trunk Peter!! Can't wait to see it in a few years with the new foliage.
