a beginner Empty a beginner

This is my first attempt at bnsai. Been reading on inernet or two or three months. Have acquired some local shrubs. They are in nursery pots. This is zone 6, Huntington WV, During the winter should these be pertected. How. Should they be left no wok on them until spring. Most are 5 pus years old, Then were in a yard . Not suremwha to do.

You give no info.

Often it takes 20 years to grow a scrub into raw material that can be styled. Are they fat enough already?

Since these have no work done on them you probably need to do something so they can grow properly to grow fat the right way. Especially if they are pines. But, no one can say how.
