Re: Finish pots
Hey Jake,
Nice going ! Looks like a successful firing, a good feeling ,eh?
Your creativity is showing thru, and no two are alike. You skills at finishing will steadily increase, just keep potting and potting !
The first forest tray looks as if you threw or extruded or just cut a long soft slab, made a wall and added it to a floor slab. I always place the oval wall on the slab, mark the inside oval shape on the slab then move the wall off. then cut the floor slightly larger than the mark, slip around the cut floor then slide the wall down over slighly streching it to make a tight fit. You can then work the joint underneath and cover it with feet, which minimizes the possiblity of it opening up, and is out of sight to the viewer once the pot is put to use.
good luck,
-big Dave
ps. Very envious --you have gotten such an early start at this

Thanks Dave,
The line on the forest pot is there on purpose. The top side is curved out and I wanted the bottom to echo that too. It didnt work exactly like I wanted to in person you can get a sense of it better.
