How do you find these in pot culture? Difficult or easy? The berries are in such good proportion, and good fall color, seems like a winning combo.

Like most acid loving plants they like a bit of room for their roots, so I tend to overpot. Otherwise fine. Biggest problem with blueberry is arrow-straight branches that do NOT bend when t6hey get woody. So wire early.

Would this plant be better with a clip and grow routine? I have some I could collect, but don't know if they'd be worth the trouble. The wild cherries, certainly have not been worth it.

I think wiring when still green would be better. The new growth is just too straight; the clipped branches would look awkward.

Thanks for the Images.
I have a 2 Blueberries growing in the garden. I certainly have to try a Blueberry Bonsai after seeing yours. I really like it and thanks for the tips.
I'll try a local garden center in the Spring and see if I can find one with green wood.

You'll probably have to cut a nursery plant WAY back and more or less start from scratch.
Or, you could do as I did, and be a little slow in stopping your lawn tractor when mowing around the established blueberry patch. Wife (who dotes on blueberries) was NOT amused.

When planting a new blueberry in the ground, be sure to put it in an old birdcage or build a little fence around it. The rabbits will eat it alive. My older bushes are naked about 18 inches down.

Thanks Jim, I had forgotten how nice they look in the different seasons!

In order to get good fall color, aside from genetics, the tree should be in full sun and exposed to a significant drop in temperature at night. You probably won't succeed in Florida except with special cultivars bred for highly colored foliage.
Bonsai are frustrating. I usually can't get good fall color on my trident and American red maple. However, my daphne spirea (S. japonica 'Alpina,') is gorgeous red-purple.
