Autumn Colour on My Hawthorns
I have been working with Hawthorns for over 25 years and have never succeeded in getting a good photo of Autumn Colours this is the closest I have got. I will make some more photos as the tree continues to change. The only reason I have managed to keep the leaves on during all this rain is because I have kept the tree in the glass house.

Very beautiful - but they always induce melancholy!! I suppose it's the affinity with Autumn in life for some of us.
Spring is just around the corner.

Great photography too... Have you got a new setup!??
The colours are fantastic, are there many other trees to share from your collection that will be changing colour over the coming weeks??

I adore this tree.
Mr. Tickle, how long your hawthorns are exposed to sunlight in a day (during spring and summer) or do you ever shade them in summer?
Thanks

Taner: Morning Sunlight and semi shade during the hottest (Joke) part of the day
Bryan, Its quite hard to keep the foliage on and get the colour because it has been so wet. That's why this tree has been in the glass house. the other hawthorns are NOT showing well right now

Thank you for the answer!
As I live in a very hot region/city, I keep my hawthorns shaded especially during July and August, just allow them to take sunlight in the morning and evening.
Nevertheless, too much shade caused powdery mildew in some of my hawthorns. If I let them to take full sun all day to avoid powdery mildew, then their leaves become too dark and hard. I am still trying to make a fine balance between shade & sun, but my hot and moist climate does not allow such fine adjustment
By the way, I think I still have to wait 1 to 2 months to see such colors here

The new pictures will be exciting to see.
It would be nice if you could include a picture of the tree bare also.
Thanks, Tony

Re: Autumn Colour on My Hawthorns
Same thing happened last weekend. We had a Freeze that was 23ºF/-5ºC and then a front moved in and we got 2 inches of rain.
A lot of leaves were lost.

Thanks Tony. I love the branch ramification and the whole tree pot combination along with the tree itself.
Sweet.
Since you have the experience growing hawthorns, what's the little secrets you've learned about them?

Tony,
I love the fall color especially against your black background. That said...I prefer it "naked", it just displays much better. Great job as always!
