Wow! I would be scared to sacrifice such large top of the tree for jin. But the way you did it make sense. Great job Erik

Hi Erik,
I enjoyed looking at this tree. I am curious though. Would you share your thoughts on why you decided to remove the top of this collected pine? Did you consider keeping the top? The style you made is certainly dramatic and will be lovely.
Thanks,
Todd

Thanks guys.
Todd, I like dramatic shapes. I've got all my life peaceful, quiet work,
wife calm, quiet children. Sometimes I mistake excitement.

Re: yamadori R1 - first styling
a very nice image and tree,
but so many collected pine trees only have one living branch that I feel this image could have been made from so many other poorer pieces of material - and the dead wood would be fantastically aged then, not new. The incredibly healthy upper part of the collected tree held my interest until it was jinned (unless it died after collecting of course). But that is the beauty of styling bonsai - we all see our own images, often different but not plainly right or wrong.
It WILL be fantastic potted up
cheers Marcus
