This is devastating news. We met briefly at Bath or Swindon a while back in company with Tony T iirc.

My heartfelt condolences to Steve's family and friends..

This was just so AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I thought I'd pull it up for anyone who is new or may have missed it...

My favourite Steve-ism from that whole thread:

"Tony: I can find nothing in your statements that I can disagree with. Except maybe the being ahead of the fashion curve thing. It's probably more a case of being so far behind the curve that it's come round full circle and hit you in the arse!"

I got the terrible news last night, but am away on holiday on the Scottish Isle of Orkney and have only just tracked down a wireless hotspot. I just want to add that I will miss Steve deeply. He was a great friend with a wit and charm that belied his appearance. Just wish we could have had more time together.

Sincere condolences to all his family and friends.

My favourite put down aimed squarely at me from Harleyrider was on your post fiona:

Bend me shape me

Ahh, see you lot, you all thought that was a beer belly, when in reality it's a well-designed bracing point for heavy work just such as this!

*Sighs in admiration* Is there no sacrifice this man won't make for his art.

Although I never got over there to meet him face-to-face we 'talked' several times online about motorcycles and pottery . I enjoyed his humor and plain talk. I'll miss him on IBC and Facebook.
Tony, thanks for being his friend until the end. We should all hope to have such a friend at the end.

Received this message on my blog and thought I would pass it on.

Many thanks for your kind comments, i'm sure steve would appreciate all your tributes. I am Steve's 'little bro' as he used to call me. I have enjoyed looking into Steve's hobby and passion, and reading his witty blog posts. I would appreciate it if anybody has any photos or anything of any relevance of Steve doing what he loved best, could you please pass them onto me or i'm sure Tony Tickle would be happy to pass them on.

Many Thanks
Dave (proud brother of Harley Rider)

I am saddened at the news of Steve's passing. I did not know Steve personally but one can certainly tell that he kept good company with the folks here on IBC. May the Golden Light, where Steve resides now, comfort all who loved and knew him.
Blessings,

Post  ferdy-san Sun Jul 29, 2012 9:26 pm

I wish to pay my respects to someone that made a mark on my understanding of love for bonsai, i am very sad that this world, lost a "wordsmith",( as were Tony's words in the brief conversation we had in the past, at the portuguese bonsai congress). Steve's posts were always amazing, and they expressed all i could not put in to words myself... So long, my IBC Friend...
