The passing of Alice Greaves

Opening email this morning, I received a message from Jim Greaves distributed by Larry & Nina Ragle, yesterday:

Dear Friends of Alice,

My ‘rock’ passed away earlier today, Sunday, May 17th, after an incredible 27+ day fight. It may sound fanciful, but Alice actually did die peacefully in my arms as I was assuring her that it would be okay if she “started up the river ahead of me ... and to just mark any good stones ... that I would follow and pick them up as soon as I could get our bags together”.

Through her ordeal I read all your messages and cards to her.

Hopefully she heard them; they did bring comfort to me. Thank you all for your love and support.

Alice Nihei Greaves seldom demanded attention yet invariably drew attention. She viewed stones & life without guile and drew others to appreciate true values. I think of Alice with Jim and hope to visit with Alice, again, through him.
