Steps of making bonsai penjing mudmen chess players
Based on the natural shape of the rock, I sculpted the mud penjing accent figures.
I first made the legs, which helped me determinate the global expressive gesture of the bonsai clay figures later.
The head was made separately with the Yixing clay.
After 45min, the first mudman was done.
Details of the 2nd mudman, sculpted with white clay.
The mudmen stayed in dry place 2 weeks before firing.
After 12h in the electrical kiln at 1280°C, the bonsai mud figures are frost resistant like most of bonsai pots.
