I'm working on a series of stoneware rocks for bonsai on rock plantation. I often use the limestones such as dolomites, however, with everyday watering, the substrate has become so hard, and not suitable for maples trees at all. This stoneware is neutral in term of its chemical property, and also suitable for aquarium plants.

A rock picked up on the way, then based on the its shape, I created the bonsai penjing mudman figurine.











The mudman is put in a dry place for 2 weeks, before the firing at 1210°C during 12h.

Wow. Just wow. That is one awesome kiln load!

Thank you Prestontolbert, about 45 mudmen  kiln load each time during 12 firing hours. There are between 5 and 10 broken  figurines after the firing due the small details of the sculptures and the high firing temperature, 1210°C.

----Alexandra, hoping that you are fine too at your side.  I just moved to Bordeaux 2 months ago, one of the  famous  french red wine cities,  to set up  the pre-bonsai nursery and the bonsai mudmen & pots studio at the same time. Therefore , I need a few months before having an e-shop for bonsai-penjing enthusiasts around the world.
