Hi Sam, It belongs to Vitex, if I am not mistaken Vitex parviflora. Very hard wood, grows very huge, and one of nicest wood for furniture.

Those are gorgeous! Like Sam I am also partial to deadwood.

The first one (Premna) is very nice but somehow it looks like a Tanuki to me.

The best in show is really something.
I can compare it with some of the very high standard trees I saw in Malaysia. That is a high caliber tree.

Yes! There a lot of good molave materials here, maybe 2 to 3 years from now there are a lot of high caliber molave bonsai will come out, you can find molave only in southern part of mindanao. you can see this tree in ABFF on November. Thank you jun.

Thanks for posting these pictures Jong. If only ive known the date earlier, i could have visited the place as i frequent Mati, Davao Oriental (work related). I agree, they do have lots of potential materials in the area specifically Tugas, Premna and Pemphis. Ive meet local hunters in the area and they kept a handful in their backyards.
