A promise of spring

For those of us laboring under what seems to be perpetual ice and snow, here is a sign that spring cannot be too far away.

I've brought this little (8 inches, lengthwise) flowering quince windswept inside to force its blooms since I need some brightening up in this very gray winter. It isn't blooming yet, but I'll keep us posted. And yes, it needs a nicer pot.

Look at those buds!!!! Hope to see it in bloom!

Here in Central Florida we are starting to have some movement as well.
This is one of my recently potted crape myrtles popping with new growth.

Those buds confirm my own scientific findings. After considerable study I have determined that Puxatawny Phil was wrong, we will have an early spring. Every winter the heater in my Suburban gets stuck on AIR CONDITIONING... Right about the time I think I will start needing that air conditioning...my HEATER turns on. The morning of Groundhog Day, my heat came on! A sure sign that warm weather is upon us!

I hope so, Jay. I'm thoroughly sick and tired of winter.

Another hopeful sign this morning: There were about 200 northward-bound robins in my yard and gorging themselves on Pyracantha berries. Hope they don't get so drunk on fermented berries they can't find their way back to your neighborhood.

Outstanding, So what you're telling me is there will be a drastic reduction in the flea population!
