I collected this tree on our annual club dig with more than a little help from a long-suffering friend.

are you just taking a huge cutting? Does Olive root that well in SA?

If properly taken care of after collection there is no problem with good rooting, the stored energy pulls them through.

Thanks Cosmos - Yes the bottom off-cut has been kept by my friend who plans to thin it down and polish it for presentation.
Preventing it from splitting will be difficult I think.
