Laerch not dropping foliage
Hi All,
Last winter I sowed 3 species of larch (European, Japanese, Siberian). After half a summer of growth, I clipped them in August to the first few needles, to stimulate low branch/bud development. They did indeed bud & grow some needles.
Now they all sit with about a cm of needles. Have not turned yellow. And even through the last frost they did not drop them.
I am a bit worries, as I now have some 150 seedlings sitting in about 10*30cm. I would really love to pull them apart and pot them individually. Any thoughts..?
Pics might come this weekend if weather allows..

I need to repot them; The stems are within a mm of oneanother..

Now and then I have a decidous seedlings that stays green in the winter. The last was a Magnolia. No problem with transplanting in spring, when the buds started moving.
A few Years ago I started my Larches. But I did not cut anything for the first 4 Years, I just transplanted for 2 times.

Young trees are flexibele when something went wrong. When they get shaded out they stay longer green. Yours had been forced tot grow again so the needles are young and for the moment had not a long periode of frost. I do not think it will be a big problem. Repot in spring before new elongation.
