New Privet survival chances?

Hello there , hope this is in the right section.
I Obtained a large privet which i think is rather impressive. I collected it Saturday night as my father mentioned in passing that there was a privet hedge pulled up in a neighbours front yard. I went over and saw this instantly , got my saw made it a little more managable and wrapped the roots up in a dampened bin bag got home late and stood it in water over night and potted in akadama in a plastic tub Sunday afternoon when i returned from work.
The root ball is quite hefty and full of fiberous roots .
Now my little experience of privets is that they are hardy and i have a joke with a friend that youd win a special prize if you killed one ... but i have two major factors that worry me for its survival chances :
1. The time of year .
2. It was pulled up Thursday and collected Saturday evening(but saturday was terential rain all day here).

What do people reckon its chances are of survival ?
I think its a stunning tree and must be as old as the houses from where it was pulled so im guessing 80-100 year old...
I would be greatful for ANY input .

I'd give it a 99.9% chance of surviving. I get inch-thick branches to root that were cut and stripped of leaves weeks before. Even if the current foliage completely wilts I'd be confident of new shoots appearing.

hi,

keep it in the semi shade and protected from relentless rain and i'd go 99% as well. just leave the tree alone for a year + to recover and it will respond much quicker when you start to style it.
