Create a virtual and fame will follow
I am presenting a demonstration on virtual bonsai at the Joy Of Bonsai event 20/21 March. The tree I will use is the Hawthorn shown here (it will be available for real at the event). I invite members to create their own virtual images and send to me and upload here. The audience will vote, (via a show of hands) on their favourite.
Here are the images for you to work with, If you wish to work on Higher resolutions please email me: tony-at-yamadori.co.uk lets see your virtuals.

Re: Create a virtual and fame will follow
Not the prettiest of pictures I'm afraid, but this is what I'd suggest.
Make the cut, then let the new leader grow wild for three years or so. Then chop again a couple of inches up.
I'd expect to get buds popping in various places on the trunk, hopefully close to A (site for primary branch), B (secondary branch) and C, along with something in the back for depth (ideally between A and B). If it didn't happen quickly then I'd think about thread grafts.
Final aim, several years down the line, would be something like this (but better drawn )

Hi everyone, some great concepts so far. Make sure you take into consideration the strong leaning of the tree when choosing your idea, do you want the tree to lean away from you, if so the apex must be brought forward considerably to make the tree credible. The reason for the movie is so you can fully understand the aspect and movement of the tree

Hi,
Great thought Tony and good to see everyone having fun. Here is what I would have done to the tree.[img][/img]

A tree in Nature
Hi,
Wanted to share the pic of a tree in nature which had a trunk very similar to the subject of this thread and which also looks similar to the way a few of the posts here have approached the styling.
Great thread. More than contributing to it, I have enjoyed viewing the entries better.
Here is one for Tony - When is the last date/time for this thread to pick the winners. As for the show of hands the one entry I really really liked is the one posted by Enzo - Great Creativity Enzo

Great Ideas and interesting 'Cultural' differences
Hi Everyone, great Ideas and interesting 'Cultural' differences in the styling.
Hi Ravi, this is not a Bonsai competition. It is not a competition for many reasons, here are two
1) access to good photo editing software
2) experience with the software
The favored design will be chosen at Joy of Bonsai in the UK next weekend.
It will be chosen by the audience after they has considered the tree in 3 dimensions and the ability to create the tree as the virtual.
regards
