Until I was getting to the end of this thread, I was thinking the final tree was about 24" high and it's only 11". That's Bonsai.

Jim, it seems much more appropriate as a single star tree in it's own show. Nice transformation. It must have taken some strong will to reduce it as you did. Well done.

Thanks, all. I did think long and hard about cutting it down, but with encouragement from folks here (years ago!), the deed was done. I think it has worked.
I'm soon going to have to cut it way back toward the trunk, however, as it is getting a bit broad in the beam and is losing interior foliage.
