Fine wired my white pine
Hello all..Did some fine wiring on my white pine today. Early last year, the tree was repotted. However, about 5 months later, the tree seemed to be stressed. Last Fall I slip potted it into this larger pot. I am looking forward to this tree starting to push growth..
Thanks for looking.

Thanks Mitch and Billy. This is a nice stage for a pine. A couple more seasons and we should have some nice and compact pads.

Hello Rob
Looking healthy enough now. What made you feel it was stressed five months after re-potting? Just curious.

Hello Gandolph, the tree is planted in a general conifer soil that I bought pre mixed. I believe it is akadama, lava rock and pumice.
Hi Mike..First, looks aside, I noticed that the soil was not really draining. I think the combination of the tree going into a small pot and the old mix that I used. Might have attributed to it. Also, the tree grew pretty well that season so new roots were filling the pot as well. Stress aside, after pulling it out of the pot, I realized I had made the right decision. Simply because this is not a tree that can be repotted often. Now, the tree can stay in this pot and mixture for many years if need be.
As far as stress, much of the trees needles were turning yellow on the ends. Then the tree started losing an enormous amount of needles. This was probably due to normal shedding. However, with the shedding of a huge amount of needles and the others turning yellow. I was worried that if it didn't stop, the tree would be completley bare very soon. Anyway, after the repot and reducing the watering to as needed only. Things seem to get better. Also, the tree was sprayed with Daconil fungicide at the end of the Winter.
