What is species and what will the foliage look like?

It looks like baeckea frutescens or 'cucur atap'. Which area did you get it?

I think you selected the correct leader for your tree. I imagine that you will have to wire to shape the top.

I agree. Put that tree in the ground for 5 yrs and beef it up. Nice start though
