New Ficus, Virts anyone?
I picked up a Ficus Retusa (Tiger Bark) last week while I was traveling for business in Ocala, FL. I really fell in love with it from the first time I saw it. It has really nice taper, and has a nice squatty trunk. I was reminded of a sleepy hallow tree when I saw it because it has a lovely knot in it that looks like it should be a home to owls! But after I brought it home and really looked at it, I don't think I will use that side as the front. Anyway, any advice and virtuals would be greatly appreciated.
This is what I fell in love with:
But with the original cut, it leaves the left side of the tree quite bare. Maybe a thread graft to fill in? The branches off to the left are actually coming from behind.
This is rotated 45 degrees clockwise:
I like this side because there is more to offer and this is what I was thinking with a chop:
Here are the other sides:
Any advice and virtuals would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Kurt

Re: New Ficus, Virts anyone?
hi,
Ineed the entire tree with the hollow facing forward to do a virt please - slightly turned clockwise to make the chop less visible - the other angles are not inspiring me atm !
it is always good to use the unique features rather than hide them at the back!
cheers Marcus

I personally find that do-nut shaped scar very UNattractive and almost vulgar, and would hide it. And I still think this tree is still to young to do a valid virtual from. It could take ANY shape at this point. Let it mature a bit and get some bulk in the branches.
