A few pictures from the Swindon Show for Dick Benbow.
Dick, I'm putting a few pictures on to keep you from going cold turkey until some better quality pictures are put on the site.
Apologies for the quality of some of the pics, the lighting at the show is a beech !
Well done to everyone that exhibited, it was a fantastic show and many thanks to the Swindon massive for working their butts off to bring us this awesome event.
Kashima Maple
White Pine
Scots Pine
Chinese Elm
White Pine
Blackthorn
Trident Maple on rock
The majority are shohin trees as my flash just wasn't up to the job for the larger trees, but I'm sure there will be plenty more people adding pictures later.
I hope you enjoy them.
Regards
John

A few pictures from the Swindon Show for Dick
Hello John. We didn't get a chance to meet at the show but Mark Cooper pointed you out while we were waiting to haver our trees photographed. I always say I am going to photograph every display when I go to shows but never find the time to do it. I have over 40 though and spent an hour or so running them through photoshop to remove as much of the yellow as possible. I will post them once I have finished work.

Re: A few pictures from the Swindon Show for Dick Benbow.
As has already been said, the sodium lighting at the venue was less than conducive to taking good photographs. However, are a few of my attempts after a bit of processing in PS.

I'm really surprised that Tony's footwear hasn't made an appearance on the forum. I wasn't sure whether I was at the Swindon Winter image show or watching Ski Sunday.

Re: A few pictures from the Swindon Show for Dick Benbow.
Great pictures Mark, and congratulations on your awards.
It was good to see you and Ritta, hopefully I'll get to see both your presentations at the BSA show this time.
Hello Will, sorry to miss you bud, congratulations on your award as well.
I didn't get many pictures at all, unfortunately myself and the boys I went with were a little tender on the Sunday after we overdid things on Saturday night.
Are you going up to Willowbog for the BSA show ?

Thank-you John, Mark for posting the pictures.
John, your root stand looked fabulous under a darling of a shohin. Congrats to you both!

Very nice trees!
Thank you John for sharing the images.

Will,
it's nice to see your elm again.
The 16th photo you posted is my personal favorite. The almost flat top appearance and the wide pot, looks very natural and the design is quite rare for the European theater.

What a great selection of trees - of all the weekends to get stuck without a car! - it would have been really good to offer a prize to 'Best in Show Native'.....While the winning trident is a totally magnificent tree, the English Elm with the name plate is a perfect example for me of a great british bonsai tree...(fantastic tree ....Will? is this your one?).
Shame about the sodium lighting - but most venues suitable for a bonsai show in the UK suffer with un-natural or poor light it seems. (it gives me a few ideas for later in the year !)
Great show everyone - I hope the attendance matched the effort
Cheers Marcus

Re: A few pictures from the Swindon Show for Dick Benbow.
Some of you guys have a serious psychological problem around retifism than the quality of the trees?
The lighting at the event is the only downside, those guys who have large protrusions attached to their cameras can get close to what the colour should be, below is my work in PhotoShop on you photo Will.
My report on the show is Here

Re: A few pictures from the Swindon Show for Dick Benbow.
On a serious note, I'd like to thank Paul and all the Swindon Crew for making us all feel so welcome and putting on such a fantastic Show. It was my first visit and I'll definitely be returning next year. Terrific trees, corking company and tasteful traders (well, except me!) and perfect blend.
Well done guys and enjoy the rest, before planning the next one of course, you all deserve it!
Regards,
Simon

Re: A few pictures from the Swindon Show for Dick Benbow.
Wow, what amazing trees, thank you for the photos guys. Makes you want run outside and snip the first bush in your way.
The Acer palmatum , with the very low wide spreading crown moved me...
For somebody that spends 8 months of the year barefoot, I first had to look up the word retifism, not a word one would expect to find here, more like a 'Sex in the City' term?
So what was it about your shoes Tony?
