Re: Ibigawa or Lace Rock?
Hi John(Orion),John,Dale & Todd..
I do agree that stone are really difficult to find in itself , what much more if you intrigate it with the design for your bonsai,I used to love RoR but has left it to others who are good at it...Now i just collect them seperately,Suiseki has given the addiction :oops:What John say is true that Japanese sometimes value stones more, once you go into it you'll see how amazing the natures gives back, shape thru the years of wear and tear.
To Dale if only I'm near logistically, your stone will be in my living room right now and of course with definetly some of your pots, who i like so much
Regards,
Alex

Re: Ibigawa or Lace Rock?
I found The Art of Bonsai Project website which has a planting of a stone which reminded me of Dale's Ibigawa rock:

(If you scroll through you will see it ... planted with Kingsville Boxwoods)

I think that is one of Mike Page's plantings. Mike posts on IBC often.

Re: Ibigawa or Lace Rock?
Here are three pics. of the culprit. It's the front, right side and rear of a shimpaku that I worked into a series of coils. It needs thinning, cleaning off of some moss and more defined deadwood, so I'm looking at about another year before it gets a real home.
To me, it seems that a more rugged, non-traditional container would work well; that's why I initially thought of some type of stone.
