Re: Display of Satsuki with stone and crane
Hello Yvonne.
A 350 year old rooftile of a temple.
Maybe it is ceramic but are you sure it is not made out of stone,
in that way it is a stone with history.
A stone made into a rooftile and after service thanks to nature becoming a stone again,
the crane is contemplating on the wabi sabi of it all.

Hi Sunip
I am happy, you liked my display.
But I feel quit confident the rooftile is completely manmade. If you go to Noelanders next year, can I bring the tile for you, to have a closer look, If you can prommise, you show up, and to say hallo to me .
Kind regards Yvonne

Nice to know as well is the fact that on Chinese-Japanese roofs of certain buildings, statues of a Crane-Phenix like bird are used.

Today i found between the old books a nice translation in German of:
The Book Of Tea written by Kakuzo Okakura
This lovely little book is maybe something for you to read and breathe the atmosphere.

Re: Display of Satsuki with stone and crane
Hi Dick and Sunip
This remain of a rooftile was found in Nara. This huge old important temple Todai-Ji has been rebuild 3 times.
Please note how small people are.
Todai -Ji has ben build arround a giant bronze Budda image.....Naras star attraction.
The eye is 1 m. wide.
This is the backside of the temple
I often do things diffrent from other turists, and wander strange places.....behind my back, when I took this photo, could I see something forrestlike....I went there, and found many remains, from what I belive was the previus Todai - Ji temple, I found the tile, and have it as a reminder of a very nice trip to Japan.
I exhibited the tile together with a crane....Cranes owerwinter in Hokaido Japan, and I found it was nice in a winterdisplay, together with a japanese satzuki.
Kind regards Yvonne
