Hello Yvonne,
Thanks, now i have a good picture of this nice stone.
I was a bit shocked to find the suiban not perfect lined with the table
and to see some sand on the table.
Also the sand was not watered.
But then again that is just me, it was lovely to see this stone there.
Love to hear about the future of the collection.

Hi Sunip

Many visitors, can have had their fingers in the sand. People often do things like that, because, they dont understand suiseki, have no idea what it is about. I have seen this many times.....this will give holes in the sandsurface, and sand on the table.

This stone is very hard, and has been handpolished through many years, to water a stone like this will ruin the pressius patina. Water was added in the poolhole. I found this enough.

My guess is, there are two diffrent ways of showing a stone in a suiban..weath with a soft eroded stone. And dry with a hard stone polished through many years.
Please correct me if I am wrong Smile .

Kind regards Yvonne

Hello Yvonne,
Yes it could be visitors touching the setting.
I was thinking on the sand being watered to get an even and natural surface in the suiban.
This stone is fine being dry with water in the pool.
I can imagine this stone after rain drying slowly, would be lovely to.
I do not know anything about viewing stone guidelines, it is only my feelings as artist,
so i can not tell you what is right or wrong.
When you say, -wet with soft eroded stones- do you talk about eroded stones that are less hard?

Hello Yvonne and All,
Here the sand surface was stroked by fingers.
Was this here the intention of the exhibiter you think?
In zen gardens the gravel between stones is raked but in general i feel in suibans it will be very difficult
to get a natural feeling with this practice, i would however never rule it out.
