Just a few pics of my greenhouse this winter. Most are only in due to the high winds we’ve been having.

I like the size of the polytunnel. It could be very useful in average size gardens for Winter storage. Does it collapse and how much did it cost?

It brings joy to my heart to so someones else's 'boxes full of twiggy stumps' so now when I look at all of mine, that are crammed in various rooms of my unheated rental house, I won't feel quite so crazy!

by the way a few years ago my wife and I bought a Rion greenhouse kit, its a plastic put it together yourself greenhouse with poly carb panels, and it has been excellent and solid throughout several brutal upstate NY winters, a touch more expensive but a great alternative if you want something a bit more permanent than a poly tunnel (though poly tunnels are cool too)

I wouldn't dare post my set up right now. not only is it mostly sticks in pots, but my "greenhouse" is visqueen and Gorilla tape (black) over PVC pipes. Looks like hell, but it works!

Its not important what it looks like as long as it does the job. Mine certainly works for the job I need it for, although there has been a few precarious time when I’ve thought it might blow away lol. Recently guy-roped it down.

My greenhouse this winter. Empty winter warning

Post  Barry Sat Jan 21, 2012 5:55 pm

Just a word of warning to anyone who lives in areas with snow! I had one of these a few years back. It was fine for the first year but I woke up one morning to see that it had collapsed under the weight of eight inches of heavy wet snow. Although the damage to most of my trees was not that bad I did need to restyle two of them due to breakage.

We don't get snow, but I do have to poke little holes in the top to prevent rainwater collecting and collapsing it.
