Larix decidua "Křivák" - "Crooky"
I dug this larch circa in the year 2000 in the neighbouring forest.
It spent few years in the ground, but it wasn't so beneficial.
The first improvements came with transplanting to plastic container.
I could think about the tree's future shape and do first light adjustments.
After transplanting to first bonsai pot with modern substrate,
I could control the feeding much better and have better acces for another work.
This is how my larch looked before I took it to the workshop with master Othmar Auer in autumn 2009.
I really enjoy his attitude to the trees and people, and his philosophy.
Working with him is very peacefull.
I don't have a good photo of the result,
so this is how the tree looked this weekend before work.
The tree was repoted in spring 2010 in my own pot.

Together with my friend, last CBA NTC winner Jan Culek,
we worked on structure and wiring fine branches.
Doing that, you take removing parts of branches for granted...
But it always hurts a bit...
More photos in webalbums.
Choosing the front side is always discussible.
This trunk always reveals and hides in the same time.
In this position I like the depth of the trunk and the placement of the ruins of second trunk.

The simplicity you found in it looks good. One of your pots?

Nice tree. Good bark. The inside left hand branch 1/3 down from top looks like it could go to me. and it would be good to be able back graft some closer foliage on the large lowest gangle-branch. Love this trees sober tone.

Hi all,
thank You.
Rob, yes, this is my pot. We spoke about it, this is the first back-rolled-feet pot. You have a cascade one.
Crust, I was thinking about grafting or approach-grafting many times. Maybe in the future.
By now I like the work with what's available and focus on it. In next two or three years the both branches on right side will dramatically improve the whole image - thick parts will be replaced by new, thinner. And the slowly-but-certainly improving back branch will help a lot too.
I'm looking forward for that.
thank You.

Martin, thank You for Your comment - and tell my greetings to Klaudia.
It was nice to meet You both in person on EBA.
I'm working hard on new pots, almost finishing - I have to hand few pots to customers on Noelanders.
Rafal! Nice to hear from You!
It's encouraging to see trees taking further and further steps, isn't it?
Looking forward to meet You again in Wroclaw!
