I didn't notice the buds first time around, sorry about that. I was on my phone and the screen is pretty small.

a birds nest with some NICE blue to it, a good find!

Good point drgonzo, I can't recall a blue birds nest, so you might consider Picea pungens globosa, a dwarf Colorado Blue Spruce as a possibility. A very nice tree! What are the dimensions? It's hard to judge size in a pic, but it looks large.
