Re: from "finished" slanting tree to weeping
Pretty ingenious Jun. I like the approach and wish you all the best with the UFO experiment Do keep us posted with the results.
I had tried a golden melaleuca in the weeping style and the tree put out shoots sometimes sideways and sometimes straight up. Still not given up as that is the only tree in the weeping style that I've got but yes it does need lots of maintenance. Its okay for a single tree. Multiple trees in this style are a maintenance nightmare

Well, let's just say she has better taste in men than bonsai.

At the least, I can guarantee her that it is only my tree that is in weeping style ...all the time.
...most women I heard tend to choose a formal upright design over weeping.

Whenever I make music, the songs that my wife likes the least are everybody elses favorites. Usually when she tells me she doesn't like something I know I'm on the right track! Great tree, Jun!!! I think it's my favorite of yours yet. As always, I really enjoy your postings. Keep em coming!

Hi Jun
I like the transformation. The tree has now a 'haunted' atmosphere. I saw a similar tree presented in halloween by Nick Lenz. Congratulations.

Bro,
Great tree!... I also have one, which is around 3years away from your tree... how did you fatten up the lower branches, mine is too apical dominant, and the lower branches are quite thin, can I just shorten/defoliate the upper branches to "wait" for the lower branches to catch up? Thanks....
Regards,
Derick

Lovely tree . It looks like Yanya could be a Sageretia Theezans or Chinese Bird Plum .

Derick,
Thanks.
This tree is just 3 year old. The right technique (at least for me) is controlling the top growth, and letting the lower branch grow wild. build ramification on top while fattening the lower branches in the first and second year.

jun
