The 24th AABC Convention was held in Perth over the weekend of 20th - 23th May 2011 at the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle. It was a highly successful convention. Participants enjoyed and learned alot. We have nothing but positive feedbacks. Here are some of the bonsai on display.

Enjoy and Cheers,

CJ

There are some more trees which I missed out. Will try to get those pix including the demo by Min Hsuan Lo and Megumi Bennett. There was also a bonseki presentation/demonstration by Yasuko Aoki.

Great trees , I love the way the Leptospumom's are shown together the movement is lovely and I would think they flower?

Pavel, thanks. One of our objective was to have as wide a variety of specie and style as possible. We may have achieved the variety of specie but style, I am not sure.
Ka Pabling, thanks. The hall was big enough for us to put chairs in between so that viewers can sit to admire and discuss. There was even an artist who draws on the bonsai.
Chris, thanks. Yes the L Polygalifolium has masses of white flowers in Spring. This variety is called Pacific beauty.

Is there an exposure issue with these shots or is it just me?

The exhibition of the native species to Australia shows off the beauty and potential of those trees.

The Leptospumoms on the gold boxes has quite an artistic flair. Not sure I'd keep the accent with it though as the trees and gold boxes seem strong enough.

Perhaps the white balance is off on some of the shots. It's tricky indoors to get without a custom WB.

That's a nice camellia too, but a japonica not a sasanqua.

Nicely done, CJ, congratulations. I especially like the saltwater Melaleucas. What great looking material! As far as I know we only have the broad leaf Melaleuca in Florida. Anyone knows?

Best,

Thanks for the compliments. I will pass it onto the committee. They have put in lots of hard works and sacrifices.

Brett: The halogen lighting in the hall gave the pix a yellow tint. I tried my best to correct it. Some turn out ok. Others not so ok.

Rob: The accent completed the overall composition. Without the accent there is a void. With the accent there is communication and ending. That is the way I looked at it. Of course art is also about personal preferences.

Russell : Thanks for the correction. The nursery here still refers to this specie as Sasanqua. Will alert them to it.

Cheers,

CJ
