Your plant is Cymbalaria Muralis, the Ivy leaved Toad-flax. This is the wild variety as you point out, there is a cultivated variety which has bigger flowers.
There is also an alba variety of this which is a rockery plant and looks even better, spreads readily in scree/gravel beds.
Hope it helps.

Dear Steve
In the area where i live this little plant is protected in the wild.
We call it "muurleeuwenbek" which means "wall lionsmouth"
When it is in the garden it grows indeed as fast as weed.
Tried to keep it in a kusa-pot , but it suffered and slowly died.
Lovely crispie plant and inspiring flowers , aren't they !
Kind regards
Morea
