Fuji Cherry in Flower
My Fuji Cherry is in full Flower this week, I thought I would share.
I grew this from a cutting and planted it in open ground for 8 years. In this pot 2 years and had it's first wiring a few months ago.

Nice cherry. I have one too which should be flowering when I get home this weekend.
Interesting to see how much wood yours has put on - I've only had mine 4 years in a pot and its all skinny still.

Nice tree Ian, and nice work!
I love the image of an otherwise naked tree in full blossom. As Chris says, it's a sure fire indicator that warmer weather is on the way. Hopefully, (fingers crossed) I'll be getting a Prunus mahaleb from Pavel when I go over there in June. I hope it turns out as well as yours!
What size are the leaves on this tree? Do they reduce easily?
Steve

Thanks Guys,
Paul, the only way to get any girth to these is open ground, they do nothing in pots.
Steve, the leaves are small for a cherry and the Autumn colour is nearly better than the flowers, nearly

Pavel, -11 wow!! We have been very mild here for weeks and this last week has seen a lot of trees pushing buds. This one had a repot early and has been in a greenhouse for protection, so it's a week or so ahead now. We had a frost this morning -1 :-)

Did a 360 of it today in case you thought all the flowers were only on the front

LOvely tree Ian, specially in 360!
Thanks again for teaching me how to do a 360, I keep a file of my favorite trees in 360,so I can monitor the progress better

Thanks, and you're welcome
Iris,
If you click on the 360 link in my signature you'll see more of them, and an explanation to how they are done. Not everyone likes the concept. I wouldn't be in favour of rotating trees at exhibitions for example, but in the on-line world, it allows people to see what actual depth there is to a tree. This is what is usually missing for me when viewing 2D images on forums. As pointed out above, it is also handy for keeping as a record of the trees development.
This is another thread with a 360 back in December. Fuji Cherry 360

Todd,
I bought a tree last year from a bonsai enthusiast and that's the pot it was in. I transferred the Cherry into it. It's an old pot in deed with plenty of character. It's a little big for this tree but it'll grow into it :-)
Jupp,
It is about a week ahead of schedule as it had been in a greenhouse after repotting but it's outside now. In fact it's just outside the window as I type this :-) I'm making the most of those flowers.

Re: Fuji Cherry in Flower
went and got my little one up out of the bottom of the garden. damn moss is over an inch thick again.
the trunk is a little over an inch thick now. ive never really been able to see a shape in this tree - so other than the lovely flowers ive ignored it. i suppose i could make a broom.
ive got it on a table outside the kitchen window while its flowering. looks pretty in the morning while i make my coffee.

That is a lovely image Ian. I also enjoyed seeing your friend's tree as well elsewhere. -4c last night so still colder than just across the water.
Pavel, when will it warm up for you????

I read Fuji Cherries are slow growers.
How old is this one, Sunip, and what is it's trunk girth?
Thank you!
