North Jersey without a balcony, that's tough.
There are no bonsai nurseries in your area that I know of. However, try Metropolitan Plant Exchange in Fort Lee. They undoubtedly sell Ficus, and what we call mallsai (starters in bonsai pots).
You do need to contact the Bergen Bonsai Society. http://www.bergenbonsai.netfirms.com/index.html
Also, if you can travel at all, get to the Philadelphia Flower Show beginning of March. Look for Meehan's Miniatures, & there will be others selling indoor bonsai.
Jack Wikle can tell you how to grow indoor bonsai year round, but you will need fluorescent lights.
The Brooklyn Botanical Garden has a very old bonsai collection.

Re: new member
Surely it is a Ficus. Buganvillea needs some direct sunlight for flowering.
