Shimpaku work...........
Hello,
I just worked this somewhat unattractive shimpaku. I originally considered eliminating all the foliage on either the left or right side. But I decided to keep everything in the final style. Just looking for some constructive criticism. I feel that my weakest ability is creating a believable crown. First pic is before pic.
Thanks..............rick

Hi Ricky.
I'll go for literati with this tree. using the first pic as front. cut and jinned the first branch on the left, and reduce the top foliage. I got a literati almost similar with your tree with similar jin and top, I'll post it later.
regards,
jun

I don't normally recommend people try literati because so few of them end up looking real, but here, I agree with Jun. There's seemingly few other options on this weired tree.

Hi Ricky, it is a interesting tree, for me one option is a design that is unique and makes the different tree.

Great idea Salva. I like the imbalance and the way the root on the right would clasp the soil.

Re: Shimpaku work...........
Thanks everyone. As I originally posted my first immpressions were to go literati, it seemed the easiest way out. It may have also been the "best" way out as well but I opted for a different approach. I agree Jim, it is a weird tree and still is, but does look much better in person, once i get the crown right and it grows in it will look better.
Great idea Salva, I like that. Maybe i should have posted the before pic before styling the tree. Next time.
Thanks everyone for your comments.

Yes I agree about the branches and Hans idea. Beautiful drawing as well, thank you dorothy.
Thank you all for your comments, while it may be to late to change the current style of the tree, it acts as a very important lesson to me to keep an open mind when trying to style my trees and always "think out of the box."
For me this tree was a lesson in "finding the tree within" and "wiring" as well, which by the way I totally enjoy doing and want to get better at.......wiring that is.
Thanks................rick
