potting tropicals
Hi all. I have a Grewia occidentalis still in a nursery pot. I have brought it in for the winter and it is still growing vigorously under my MH. I'm wondering when is the best time to bare root and start training for a smaller pot as it seems it wont really have a dormant period. Ive trimmed the roots once already without bare rooting but really want to get it out of the poor soil it is in now.
Thanks, Mike

Grewia is a full tropical from Malawi & South Africa. It has no dormant period. I assume by MH you mean a metal halide light. You can repot it any time.
The drawback I have found with Grewia is that eventually the branches outgrow the trunk & it needs to be completely restyled. Of course that was under fluorescent lights for the winter, so you may have different results.
