I just can't believe this. I've never seen anything go from raw material to stunning bonsai as quickly as Pemphis! It's just amazing.

Re: AFTER 6 YEARS: UPDATE OF MY PEMPHIS
Greetings Ogi! I'm new to this forum and the art of bonsai, so I've been educating myself as much as possible by reading what the pros do, and I've found your posts great. I love seeing progression series, they are the best way to learn visually.
I just wanted to know if my guess is right: that you're using a technique I've never read about to transfer your tree from one pot to another with the intention of exposing the mature roots under the soil line in the old pot. I've seen how people usually expose roots by first planting the tree in a deep pot and slowly uncovering roots by removing soil. But I've never thought about the technique you seem to be implementing to do this for a mature tree.
Great work, Mike.

mgallex,
the extention you see in the picture. I put organic fertilizer specifically dehydrated cow dung. When I water the plants the juice of the fertilizer drains naturally to the roots. Whats the benefit of it.
1. good health of the plant using organic
2. when you use organic fertilizer on top of the pot the hair roots will be going up and when your lucky the nebari wil be develop.
3. easy to repot
4. safe for young and mature trees.
5. additional space for the roots to grow.
Every 6 moths i replace old organic to a new one. These is not new. But only few is implementing this kind of technique. Sometime I add guano fertilizer or bat manure.
