this is the evolution of a little white pine
it will go probably on a rock or a driftwood
i put it in this position because of a ugly but strong trunk default
i prefer nebari s position before this operation ...but the tree is much much well i find

pictures from two years ago when i got it
to now ..one week ago

Beautiful tree. I love white pines. Yours has amazing bark, along with the movement of it.

Looking very healthy and much changed. I do prefer the 'jelly-mould' pot as well.

Mike

I think these are called Lotus pots, but I know they are made to represent a flower, and I also think the Japanese Imperial Family seal.

japanese white pine Empty Correction

Post  Billy M. Rhodes Wed Sep 08, 2010 12:45 pm

The flower shape is Chrysanthemum and it does resemble the Imperial Seal. The number of petals is important. I think the Imperial Seal has 18, and such a symbol is not allowed to be used in Japan except by the Imperial family. How many sections does your pot have?

hello
and thanks for encouragement
well... i called this pot also lotus pot
but for me ...the shape is simply a lotus flower
with 12 parts making 6 petals....
thats better like this ...i am not a member of the japanese imperial family Very Happy

anyway...i am mot sure of the combinaison tree -pot
and the new implantation will also oblige me to change of pot style i think

that s why i was thinking about a rock or a driftwood
i will command some paraloid b 72 to makes the drifwwod harder..water proof
so maybe i ll can hope a longer life for it

Very Happy

I looked at my pots with a similar shape, one has 12 sections the other has 8. The pot with 8 sections is actually a little larger.

Hello again Cram. I really like your choice of new planting angle. Look forward to seeing it potted in something a little less formal.

Hi Cram, I quite like the movement of the trunk in the other direction, here is a rough idea of what I mean:
Either way its a fine little tree.

yes ...you re right
the nebari is nice also in this angle...maybe even better
but my problem was to correct the second section of the trunk
a stick with no curves

that why i decide to change it in this position
and now the foliage is starting to be in place...it looks nice also

bonsai is question of choices....sometimes you make the bad one

Have you considered grafting a lower branch?

I'd be willing to bet the top Japanese White Pine has already been grafted to a Japanese Black Pine trunk.
