Juniperus Empty Juniperus

Post  rolandp Thu Jun 24, 2010 9:24 am

Dear Bonsai friends

I styled this juniperus for the first time on a workshop organized from our bonsai Club (end of Mai)

After the styling I left some branches on the top for backup and yesterday I decided to remove these branches so the rough design of the tree is now more visible. The tree is not styled to the end. There is a lot work to be done regarding the styling of all small branches and finalizing the crown in detail. But I think that the first step towards the final design is done.

The plan is to make the final design in autumn which will include final design of the crown whit all details, designing the dead wood and making two sharis on the trunk.

Before the styling 05-2010

After styling 06-2010 (styling was done in 05-2010)

All comments are very welcome.

Best regards,

That's very nice material and a good start. As usual, however, I find the pointy top on a tree like this to be distracting and unnatural -- though very "bonsai-like."

I'd like to see a more rounded top and (eventially) more down below.

Jim thanks for your reply and your virtual.

I have to admit that I agree with you, didn’t think this true as I should...so I prepared some additional virtual next to your.

I like your first one better than the next two -- for the same reason -- too much top rising to that oh so Japanese triangular point.

I think you can have a lot of fun working on this one.
