Hello Zac. The only reason you would tilt the pot after styling is if the tree needed a new planting angle. This doesn't happen all the time.

Why are you tilting the tree? If it is just temporary, to see how it looks or to drain excess water, it won't do anything. If you tilt it permanently, the branches will grow at a new angle.

When considering the styling of any tree it is important to find its best character. Some trees can be improved dramatically by a change in angle, viewing from another "front", removing a branch or reducing the top. All these and more will be considered before repotting to get the very best from a tree.

Having a tree tilted over is one of the traditional bonsai styles and mimics the way some trees grow in nature. It's done when you think the tree looks better that way.

If you're thinking of changing the angle of a tree, you temporarily put a wedge under one side of the pot to see how the tree will look at that angle, and take photos like that to show what you're planning. Next time you repot the tree, you can set it in the pot at the new angle.....unless you changed your mind.
