Carpinus betulus - Charme / Hornbeam
It's been quite some time since i posted a tree of mine, and i thought i'd share this one with you.
I rescued this hornbeam from a forest path when it was a 2-3 yr-old seedling. I first planted it in a pot, but after a couple of years, I really couldn't figure out what i could do with it, so i planted it in my hedge. I rediscovered it in 2008, chopped the top, and potted it in April 08:
Then...
July 08:
Defoliated, trimmed and wired in june 09.
July 2009:
31 March 2010, before repotting:
In a new pot, back side showing big cut that will take time to heal:
Front:
Waiting to see it in full leaves after removing the wires...
(One of my favourite: to me, it has a "Chinese feel" because of the dancing trunk. )
