Picea abies 2002 - yamadori "LOGO"

Hi all bonsai friends.

Today I completed the restyling of my favorite tree, Picea abies. It's Yamadori tree. First styling, I worked in 2002.

NIce work Pavel. I wish I had this in my collection Thank you for showing the progression over the years.

I have a question, The first pic shows a large flat container prior to styling, and then after shows it in deeper blue. My question is why was it re-potted into the deeper one? I have my assumptions and some experience doing something similar but, I figured I would ask for a concrete answer.

Joe - thank you for nice replies. Initial container for Yamadori was in 2001. Was soft and bent down. Not fit for the job. That's why I sold it in 2001 changed the blue container, firm and labor better. Height is the same, distorts the lower part, where no substrate.

I think that area is on the left and the concept is enough for me a very balanced in my project. Photo does not show everything like in reality.

I have an enormous abies myself that I collected early this summer. Its currently recovering well in a large wood box w course bonsai soil and some peat moss...no work has begun other than trying to make it healthy as can be. How long did u have to pinch new buds before backbuding began?

Congrats, Pavel, it's a well-diserved award.

But the sculpture itself, er how shall I put it ?

At first I thought it was a montage with a photo of your own hands, and I thought "How creepy, how odd...". And since the first branch on the right is very long, it looked like the hands of a long-gone bonsaika comming back to haunt the tree and pulling it as a trick.

Do you think I need to see a doctor of the bowels of the head?...

Maybe Nick Lenz could make something off the tracks out of it
