A glimmer of hope ?

Tried to work yesterday. My good self and 9 offenders, were supposed to clear brush,brambles and litter from an ancient trackway. We were soaked to the skin within half an hour and had to give up by midday. You can just make out a small ammount of water at the bottom of the valley

Returned today, warm and sunny all day. This is the first time I've seen the sun since Christmas. Notice how the valley has filled up.

Field boundary alongside the trackway. Found a large patch of Spindle, some were very old with trunks as thick as my thigh.

Local farmer said I could take the smaller ones encroaching onto his field.L

This is about the size of a fist at the base.

It was dark by the time I got home. Will pot it up tomorrow and post a pic.

Great find. Great when your work joins up with your hobby. Can you get the lads to dig up all the ones your allowed

We had good weather also and it was a pleasure to be at work.

Days like today really lift your spirits after such a cold wet winter. Did'nt get much help from the lads though. They thought I was mad. Comments like.."What the #:#* you diggin that s#+t up for bro, It's half dead innit"

Another nice day. Washed the soil off and there's plenty of fibrous root.

Decided to remove the large root underneath. I put the cut root in its own pot as Spindle suckers freely.

Potted up and squeezed onto my already overflowing benches. Why oh why oh why

What a lovely Trunk, Will. Great find. I see some lovely trees in the background.

It's a beautiful day. WISH i could go home and re pot some more trees:-) Any of you guys coming to Bonsai boot sale in Birmingham? It's on 14th of this month. Starts 8 am. Some nice stuff there. and cheap.

Matt and I are going out on t'hill with Mr T this Sunday, ostensibly to collect a huge Hawthorn he's been prepping for quite a few years. What's the chances Tony'll be the only one who comes back with a new toy?

Tony might be the only on to return with a tree but there are'nt many relative newbies in such a priviledged position as you and Matt
