Resting Re-potted Trees
Hi Guys,
I've been really busy potting on trees and raw material that are "on the move" over the last week or so. I was just wondering how long should I give the trees in a protected environment before they can take on the riggers of the UK weather??
I know that its been very "up and down" down south but I'm running out of space at an alarming rate and would like to free up some bench space.
Many Thanx in advance,
Simon

Re: Resting Re-potted Trees
I usually give most of them a bit of protection for around a month after repotting. That's only really necessary when you've done a complete soil change and really stressed the tree. If it's a lift and box up without removing all the soil ball, I just put them in a more sheltered spot in the garden for a few weeks. They are then moved to full sun and wind exposure gradually.
Species does have a bearing on this too. Some trees grow like weeds despite any amount of abuse, others turn up their toes even given the very best of attention.

Re: Resting Re-potted Trees
Thanx Kev.
I'm afraid that I have stressed a few of my trees but I'm sure they will be fine. I've been trying to introduce some of the earlier ones to the outside world on nice days (like today) but you can never tell what you are gunna get these day (last Wednesday evening for example - 3 inches of snow overnight!!)
Thanx again & I'll keep you posted on my sucess rate
