Hi Sutin!
I think that you are one of the very seldom to find people, who is able to do something like this! The tree was really not to bad as it was shaped before, but now it is so much better!
I like it very much.

Ah!
One short word because a few day ago I was in my garden, shape a little bit the trees and has time to "think a little bit over" what you are for me (difficult for me to find the right words....): you are for me the Kimura on Shohin! And this is really my honest opinion! A few years ago I saw a picture with a little Hinoki cypress and a fruit (for size relation reasons). From this moment I start to sell my bigger trees and invest the money in Shohin. So in fact you are the one who influenced me so much.
Hopefully no one will strangle me now for this open words Embarassed

Another nice restyle. Thanks Suthin. The posts are instructive. I echo Martin's comments. Your work has had an influence on my attitude toward shohin and my own trees.

I took a work shop with you in Indianapolis a few years ago. It was a great experience, I hope to be able to again sometime. "Fat trunk, short tree.....skinny trunk, tall tree".
I am a fan of fat little shohin Very Happy

Please continue to post your transformation photos.

Hi Suthin,
WOW!!!! BRAVO!!!!!
Your eye for movement, empty spaces and composition is breath taking! It is so good to see this kind of bonsai styling, were every little detail of the tree, pot and stand is important! Things like open spaces, branch placement and branch refinement are such a intricate part of high level bonsai art, and I some times miss that in some of the modern bonsai styles. But not in your creations Suthin! Your ability to discover and than creat something stunning out off already not so bad material is just amazing! Truly inspiring to me, so thanks for that Suthin! Smile
Regards,
Hans van Meer.

WOW Suthin
Wonderful trees, their quick development and your design and foresight are just amazing.

I don’t know if the board members realize that you create these wonderful bonsai in New England.
His Nursery is in the suburbs of Boston, MA which at best is zone 6 (read long cold winters).
Suthin's Large bonsai, especially Ficus, Japanese Maples and Pines are just as incredible as his Shohin work.

Happy Thanksgivings
