Propagate Suckers
Hi IBC folks,
I need to know if anyone has tried propagating material from suckers (in particular, hard to grow species). I tried propagating my red Chojubai several times from cuttings (at different times of the year, using different kinds of soil), but failed everytime. This time I'm letting a sucker grow freely and plan to separate it during the spring repotting in 2017. Since suckers already have root tissue on it, I'm guessing it will have a better chance of surviving.
I'd like to hear from someone who actually has propagated material from suckers.
Thanks.

Re: Propagate Suckers
have you tried to air/ground layer one off ?
that sounds like it might have a better chance of success
(if you let the sucker run enough to get thick enough to work with )
