Verawood - Bulnesia arborea
Verawood - Bulnesia arborea - is a large tropical tree. The oldest one I've ever seen is in Fairchild Tropical Gardens in Miami. It's around 60 feet tall. I have a much smaller one in my garden that threw a million seeds two years ago. Just for fun and since I have the room I put a couple of seedlings in 3-gallon cans and let them grow. One of them, a runt, never grew straight up, instead it hung like a vine.
Yesterday, I chopped it back to within 6" of the soil, leaving a trunk about 1" in diameter.
I'm thinking about moving it into a bonsai pot and keeping it small. Is this possible? Has anyone ever done this with a Bulnesia?
