This is a White Bloom Crepe Myrtle that is about 8-10 years old. I cut it back last year while it was in the ground so it can develop some strong shoots. As i was in the yard today i began to see the tree wake up from dormancy so i decided to pull it out of the ground.

I would put it back in the ground to ensure vigor and ground layer it to get a better nebari. or root the top half. I have taken 10foot tall trunks 4" caliper cut them into half a dozen firewood sized chunks and rooted every single one in perlite, so it should air/ground layer easily.

Thanks for the info Buck. I have a CM that I need to dig up. It is too big to bonsai but some of the branches would be good candidates to air layer or root in perlite.

Thanks

I love to see these transformations. I don't see these up north, but I find them amazing trees with beautiful bark.
