Air Layering Question

Hi IBC,
Quick Question:
Is there a maximum thickness for a branch that could be air layered? In another word, can I air layer a branch that is about 11 cm (4 inches) in Diameter?

You might need to do some reading up on the tree / shrub, see if it can be done and how long to wait, and when to do it.

Just did a Tamarind branch this year at around 4" [ 10 cm ] and then had to wait 3-4 months for new shoots to see if was growing in soil.

As previously stated it may depend on the particular tree or shrub in question - but I've successfully air layered trees/branches up to 150-200mm in diameter.

The tree is Cypress, and from the quick reading I done so far it seems that I can air layer it.
I will try and let you know if it works in many months from now
