Ficus, New Trunk Line Styling Question
I'd like some feedback on the next branch to select for the next trunk line and taper to create an 'informal upright(?)' form. The previous graft to shorten the trunk failed, so I chopped back to the lowest large branch for the new trunk line. The roots have escaped to the ground and I got some great thickening on the branch (2 years). Now I need to chop again before I lose taper. I'm thinking of cutting just above the next lowest branch which points back towards the original trunk. Thickening it, then chopping and growing the apex. I'm just not sure if the angles will be too sharp and look funny. It will have to be tilted to make new trunk line more vertical. I'll attach the current pic and mock ups below. Thanks!

Hi, I think your idea looks fine. With ficus as long as they're healthy, Hack hack hack and don't worry about it! That has been my experience.

I think those big roots should be cut and split, unless you have other plans for the base...
I like the initial virtual, btw, personal taste is all.
