Probably. But this is bonsai, not nature. We may try to emulate nature when we can, but we don't necessarily do carbon copies; we TRY to add attractiveness to the results as we do it.
(you DO remember carbon paper and what it was used for . . . ?)

yes... i even remember mimeograph (and what it smelled like)
i wasnt suggesting carbon copies of nature...
i just found the upward struggle not unattractive
(but again these are just opinions and i realize mine is less well-informed at this stage than some others)
