Re: One year Alnus Seed.
Delightful mini, Gabriel.
That's one in the eye for the "never start from seed" brigade.

Re: One year Alnus Seed.
As soon as I saw the first picture, I thought: I'd cut it and make a mini. How wonderful when I saw the the next picture. It is very well balanced! Ulmus do grow quickly, and that is why I have quite a few growing in my flower beds as future bonsai.
Gabriel, did you do anything to get that great little bend in the trunk, or was it natural? Thanks for posting!

Kev,
Carolee.
This little Alder grows naturaliy, I never do nothing to it.
I think the "secret" to have Alnus like this is a good idea to grow them into very big pot or woodbox for its first 2 years in coarse river sand.
Thx & regards

One Year Alnus Seed
Do you know which species of Alnus (alder) it is? Temperate alders are also occasionally used for bonsai. I hope you will be able to reduce the leaves so they are more in scale.

Hey Iris.
I think is s an Alnus "glutinosa", but I'm not very sure. Anyway I defoliate them 1 or 2 times in summer becuse in optimas conditions, they grow very, very, very rapid.

I'm curious how much you will be able to reduce the leaf size. The alder has a pretty large leaf.

Alnus glutinosa and Alnus cordata leaf size reduces well with regular defoliation.

Inglish.
Thx athrun, I'm at 600 km from the epicenter so we doesn't have any complication with the earth quake at all,... thx God ! ! !
I defoliete this year 2 times this little tree. I'm waiting fall time for take a pic to show you how it looks.
